Management of Health & safety at work - Risk Assessment

Contract Details:       HPWJ & Uplift material from tanks, vessels, wells, drains and gulleys etc.

Location of Work:     This is a generic risk assessment for Water Jetting & Tankering work.

Access/Egress:         Host site/authority must provide safe Access/Egress to work areas.

Equipment Reqd:     HPWJ Unit & Tanker Unit, Full PPE.

Haz. Substances:     Host site/authority must provide details of any known potentially hazardous substances,  gases, vapours or volatile product.

 1.  Setting up work area, product spillages.

Persons at Risk:      ACRE Personnel, Site Staff

Risk Level:              Low

Control Measures in place

• Work area to be cordoned off with barrier tape/traffic cones .
• Operatives must ensure unauthorised personnel not to enter operating areas.
•  Any undue leakage/spillages of waste must be cleared up promptly.  

2.  Open Manhole covers - Slips, trips, falls.   (Major Accident Hazard)

Persons at Risk:      ACRE Personnel, Site Staff, Contractors

Risk Level:              High

Control Measures in place

• Open manholes/drains must be guarded by traffic cones/barriers at all times.
• Manhole & drain covers must be replaced at the end of each operation or shift, and manholes or drains must never be left open outwith working hours.
